Greetings!
We would like to extend our greetings to all the Greeks that live in Chicago. Although we are all appreciative of the country that we live in, there is still something in us that feels connected to the blue colors of the Greek flag. The Greek element attracts us and keeps us together, even though we have also changed and assimilated into the better lifestyle of this country.
Yet, apart from our common Greek heritage, we have another common link. It has always been the case that Greeks expressed a belief in the Triune God of the Holy Bible. However, not always, and especially not all of us have lived our lives according to the Christian faith. Many times, this faith in God was strongly associated with the Greek “religion.” At other times, we have thought of God as a set of rules. If we want to be sincere, most of us have become detached from a personal relationship with the Triune God.
The Greek Community Church has been established to restore sincere faith in our hearts. Our focus is not on the outward appearances, but on the true meaning of the Christian life. Our concern is not with social statuses and graven images, but with the sincere obedience to the Word of God, as it is practiced in the everyday life of the Christian.
As much as we want to retain connection with our Greek identity, we also desire the touch and the blessing of God. If you are a Greek (or Greek-American) living in Chicago, and you share the same feeling, we invite you to join us in this effort for renewal and genuineness in our relationship with God.
Showing Christ Around Us!
We look around us here in the north suburbs of Chicago and see a landscape littered with dissolved families, substance abuse, broken relationships, greed and all manner of human brokenness. Into this difficult situation God has called the family of Greek Community Church to bear witness to our Greek community of the only solution which really works, the only alternative which brings real hope to the hearts of men and women—the love and salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ offered in the gospel.
Our Church’s essential commitment is to the proclamation of the gospel and to the building of our church based on the truth and authority of the Holy Scriptures, God’s Word to us. At the Greek Community Church, we want to develop a sense of knowing, loving and glorifying God (1 Corinthians 10:31). We want to speak out in love on the urgent issues of our day and demonstrate, through our lives and thoughts, the supreme importance and relevancy of the eternal issues set forth in the Holy Bible.
You will find the Greek Community Church to be a warm and friendly fellowship of true Christians. Come, join the family at the Greek Community Church as we seek together to worship our glorious Lord and discover the truth that transforms lives from the one who himself is the Way the Truth and the Life (John 14:6).
